Is weight gain a guarantee on asthma drugs/prednisone?!
Question: Is weight gain a guarantee on asthma drugs/prednisone!?
I've had bad asthma unfortunately and I can't seem to shake it off completely so I take lots of drugs for it including prednisone at emergency times, but I take it in small doses usually 10mgs, at most 20, but recently I took a 60 mg dose!.
Are all of these drugs including the prednisone going to ensure me of weight gain!?

Most of the asthma drugs don't cause weight gain, but those containing steroids do make weight gain more likely!. Steroids of all types (including prednisone and inhaled steroids) tend to increase appetite!. So, you can control weight gain by minimizing calories!. The other thing prednisone will do is cause water retention!. As long as you only take prednisone periodically, rather than constantly, the water weight will not persist!. Be sure and drink plenty of water while taking prednisone to minimize water retention!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if youre just on them short term every once in awhile for a bad flare its probably not that significantWww@Answer-Health@Com
