Answers:
Your voice should be back to normal by 6 - 8 weeks post surgery!. Sshe needs to go back to the ENT doctor if it lasts longer!. They can improve it slightly without surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Parathyroidectomy is a safe and effective procedure!. There are few specific complications of parathyroid surgery!. These may include damage to nerves supplying the vocal cords and inadequate function of the remaining parathyroid glands after surgery!. !.The nerve that controls much of the voicebox
(larynx) runs adjacent to the thyroid gland!. The nerve may not work well after surgery!.
This will lead to a hoarse, breathy voice and sometimes trouble swallowing!. Most mild
hoarseness after surgery is due to swelling of the vocal cords from the breathing tube
(endotracheal tube) placed by the anesthe siologist during the procedure!. If both lobes are
removed, rarely both the left and right recurrent laryngeal nerves may not work, and the
patient may have trouble breathing!. This may require a breathing tube to be placedWww@Answer-Health@Com
