I started taking Doxycycline a couple of weeks ago for my skin!. Today I noticed a rash on my right arm and thinking back I had a rash on my neck last week that has now gone away!. The rashes doesn't really itch or anything!.!.!.they're just red!. I know antibiotics can sometimes cause rashes because they disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in the system!.!.!.so do you think this is the problem or am I maybe allergic to the antibiotic!?
Anybody have a similar experience with Doxycycline!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Doxycycline and, indeed, all the tetracycline family of antibiotics are well-known to cause photosensitive skin reactions!. You become more prone to sunburn This is not an allergic reaction!. But it is a side effect!.(And, of course, you can get the usual allergic reactions including hives or difficulty breathing!. Stop it immediately if you do!) The rash on your neck (especially if it was the back of the neck) and arm is consistent with this You can use a sun block!. But as we are heading into summer and a time of increased sun exposure, I would notify your doctor and ask for and antibiotic in a different drug class!. (I have a link below)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd talk to the doctor!. You can develop and allergy even after taking these for an extended period of time!. You may be developing an allergy, in which case you can go into a full anaphylactic reaction (severe allergic reaction) and not be able to breathe!.!.!. I'd suggest not taking any more until the doctor is notified!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!.!. I mean yes!. Okay, "No" is because the gut bacteria thing isn't what causes the rash (that can cause some upset gut though)!. The rash is because some people are allergic to some antibiotics!.

My friend had a rash from an antibiotic (she's allergic to a lot) and was told to take benadryl (anti allergy!.!. antihistamine!.)

You should call up the pharmacy that you got the doxy from and ask them about your symptoms!. They will know and are the perfect resource!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

hmmm
i take it too but have never had that problem
call your dermatologist, they will know what to do!.
maybe they'll recommend a smaller dose!.
you could just be taking too much for your body to handle!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
