Question: Serious question, about breathing tubes when needed in hospital!.!. (sorry)!?
Has anyone ever been in hospital and needed a breathing tube!? If so, is it gut instinct to try to push it away (having a tube stuck down your throat)!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

When they are fitted the nurses are trained to place them to minimise the discomfort and the tubes have something to preevent the gag reflex !.!.!.!.!.a small balloon thing apprently prevents it !.!. then it closes off any other exits !.!.!.!.!.!. all painless and as comfortable as posssible !.!.!.!.!.!.

know some nurses that I just asked for you!.!.

a normal intubation tube is put down ur throat while ur asleep but when ur awake, most of them nowadays can be taken out by the patient once they are awake as it is their natural instinct to do so!. just be aware that u may have a sore throat after and there may be a lot of spit as well!. hope this helps, i have surgical experience as a student nurse and seen many people be anesthatised!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I go to the hospital at least once a year for a heart check up, since I was born with a defected heart, which causes me to continue to get Pneumonia a lot!. I've had to get a breathing tube jammed down my throat, and yes it hurts, and no I didn't push it away!. They usually knock you out first with a sleeping shot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you wake up from surgery or something similar with a tube down yout throat, then It's instinct to try and get it out!. Once the nurse/doctor has explained to you and calmmed you down, you can't feel it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I haven't had a tube down my throat but I have had quite a few ng tubes,tubes that go down your nose into your stomach,and after they are in place you can't really feel them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you talking about when waking up from surgery with the tube!. Some people could be disoriented from medication and try to pull the tube out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If somebody needs a breathing tube, chances are they will be sedated and unaware of it (such as when under general anaesthetic or in intensive care)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
