Answers:
Gastroenteritis (more commonly known as the stomach flu) is actually a catch-all term for different viruses or bacteria that cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea!. The viruses or bacteria that cause it transmitted through food, but it can also be caused by lack of hand-washing or lactose intolerance!. You should also keep in mind that most forms of gastroenteritis are highly contagious!. Perhaps your mother caught it from someone she knows!. I once caught the stomach flu at a sleepover right before Christmas and then I gave it to all my family members during the holidays!. It really could be anything!.

However, the stomach flu is rarely dangerous, though it is unpleasant!. To help your mother recover, make her rest and keep her well hydrated!. Make sure she eats as well, but avoid fatty, fried, spicy or sugary foods!. And of course, anything dairy is out of the question!.

Bland foods, such as chicken broth, rice, jell-O, toast, saltine crackers, and apple sauce are best!. For drinks, stick to water, dilated apple juice, and tea!. Also, for some reason, ginger ale, sprite or any other kind of soda do wonders for upset stomachs!. Having the stomach flu is the one time when doctors will actually encourage you to drink soda, LOL!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The germ that made your mom sick could have come way way before you both ate!. She could have picked it up somewhere even as far as 2 weeks ago!. Certain germs wont cause a person to get sick right away!. Or the food could have been bad but your immune system was stronger and was able to fight off the bacteria better than you mothers!.

Just keep having her drink lots of fluid so she gets back what she lost!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
