Answers:
Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV)!. There are more than 80 different types of HPV!. Different types tend to infect only certain types of skin or mucous membranes!. In other words, common warts caused by HPV 1, 2 and 4 don't cause warts in the genital area!. Genital warts caused by HPV 16, 18, 31, and 33 don't cause warts on hands and feet!. Some people with a genetic susceptibility to warts do get them all over their bodies!.

HPV can lie dormant for months to years and get reactivated later by who knows what!. Sometimes the treatment itself can activate latent virus in surrounding, normal-appearing skin!. This is why you have to treat for such a long time!.

Also, with so many types of HPV you can get reinfected with a different type later!. Usually the skin has to be damaged in some way but it may be such minimal damage that you don't even see it!. HPV is shed from the skin but if your skin is intact you won't catch an infection from someone with a wart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
