I'd rather have neither!. I wouldn't want malignant metastatic abdominal cancer (node) or a vascular thrombosis (triad)!. Wouldn't want to be on Heparin, Coumadin, or Plavix the rest of my life!.
Virchow's Node is defined as "a large, hard, left supraclavicular lymph node which can contain metastasis of visceral (abdominal) malignancy" which can progressively advance while remaining asymptomatic!. And advanced stage malignancies have a poor prognosis!. (Ask!.com)
Virchow's triad consists of predisposing factors involved in vascular thrombosis: 1) changes in the vessel wall; 2) changes in blood flow pattern; and 3) changes in blood constituents!. According to Daniel J Brotman, MD, "This triad has been attributed to Rudolf Virchow!. However, it is not what Virchow originally described, he did not believe that vessel wall injury was important in forming thrombosis"!.
