Peeling skin on fingertips [[PICS INSIDE]]?!

Question: Peeling skin on fingertips [[PICS INSIDE]]!?
This has started i'll say a couple of months ago!. My fingertips were cracking!. Then, I've just bit the peeling skin off!. But since then, I think it's spreading to the sides and all over my hands!. If you were to examine my hands carefully, you would notice small holes everywhere!.

I did my best on taking these pics, cause it was hard to get such good detail!. But please, can someone tell me what it could be!?

It looks like a case of keratolysis exfoliativa!. This long name just means "peeling of the top layer of skin" The specific cause is unknown!. Generally it's just a mild annoyance, and there really isn't any treatment that will make a big difference!. If it bugs you, you can scrub your hands with one of those sugar scrubs or another one that contains "bits" to exfolliate skin!. That will just buff off whatever is dead!. The mechanics of it - at least the way the dermatolgist explained it to me- is that where you would ordinarily shed bits of skin, sometimes it just doesn't flake off right!. It's all dead skin, ready to flake away, so there is some minute space between it and the layer below!. You take a bath, or wash your hands, and a bit of water gets in there, or you rub something, and the friction causes the skin to separate in that spot!. Except it forgets to let go at the edges!. So basically you end up with a bubble in the birthday suit- until you manage to pick at it or rub it off yourself!. And finally- it could be something you are doing to rub the skin loose yourself!. It would be something you do repeatedly with your hands, but the underlying mechanics are the same!. It's silly stuff- wearing gloves, washing dishes, playing with a game stick- that sort of thing!. Anyway, it's not deadly, just irritating!. I get it myself from time to time- usually when I've knitted with raw wool, and it will happen on the fingers that control the yarn flow to my needles!. Just get a scrubbie, exfoliate your hands, and apply a nice gooey lotion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could be the start of something like eczema or psoriasis, but it sounds like a fungal infection!. Tinea manuum affects the hands and is a bit like athletes foot but on your hands!.

To get it treated (and diagnosed) you need to see a doctor, if it is Tinea manuum then a simple treatment of anti-fungal cream for a week or two should clear it up!.

hope it gets better!Www@Answer-Health@Com
