First of all mono can be spread through any transfer of saliva or blood!. Sharing drinks, utensils, etc puts you at risk!.
Second, it effects your spleen because mononucleosis is a virus that attacks B-lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell), which are largely concentrated in the lymph system!. Thus, your lymph nodes become swollen!. Your spleen is part of the lymph system and thus can become enlarged due to this infection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
