Hello,

I'm sorry about your high cholesterol, you don't say what it is, is it higher than 5!?

I think the important thing about cholesterol is that most of it, is manufactured inside the body by the body itself, (actually by the liver)!.

Only a smaller part of the total cholesterol in your blood, comes from cholesterol in your food!.

If you have inherited high cholesterol from your parents, what you have actually inherited is a liver that manufactures more cholesterol than normal!. You haven't inherited a tendency to extract more cholesterol from what you eat!.

In my opinion you need to clarify the situation with your doctor, but certainly you should be thinking about taking one of the 'Statin' blocking tablets every day for life!. Statins work by blocking the liver from making cholesterol!. There are occasionally side-effects, but really quite rarely, - - they can make your muscles ache!.

If you have a family history of heart disease, you should also be thinking about taking an aspirin tablet every day!. UK and American practices differ, the UK advise one 75mg (child's) aspirin tablet every day, and the USA advise one 300mg (adult's) aspirin tablet every day!.

Sorry this is a bit of a 'downer!.' It depends on exactly how high your own cholesterol measurement is!. I think if it is more than 6 or 7, you should be seriously considering a statin!.

Hope this is of some help!.

I do not have inherited cholesterol problems but did have a high level!. Like many folks that work, I ate breakfast and lunch at a fast food restaurant!. And not always "junk" stuff!. Salads and such frequently!. I recently retired, stopped eatting at Jack and, amazingly, my levels fell by 50 points over a several month period!. Still a little high but sure better!. I thought you had to take many meds to lose that much!. My Doc says"Hurrah!"!. Sounds like you probably have enough sense to stay away from that junk but, if not, please do so! Really helps!. Good luck! FemaladyWww@Answer-Health@Com
