It is wise not to!. Small cuts to the feet can go unnoticed for a long time!. This eventually cause gangrene and this is why some diabetics have amputations!. Yeah you can do it but the consequences of missing something wrong is permanentWww@Answer-Health@Com

Generally, it is recommended that people with diabetes wear good sturdy shoes!. The reason for this is that a significant number of people w/ diabetes lose the feeling in their feet!. It is called loss of protective sensation or peripheral neuropathy!. Oftentimes, they are completely unaware of this!. I have seen people w/ diabetes come into the clinic where I work with foot wounds caused by something like a small stone in their shoe!. They don't even notice till they take off their sock & it is bloody!. Unfortunately, diabetics often have a hard time healing foot wounds, for a variety of reasons!. Because of this, they are at risk for amputations!. It is a very serious problem!.

I have heard that it had to do with nerve endings in the feet which could die via infections and diabetic (type A) people might not realise that infections have set in nor feel the cuts therefore amputations are sometimes necessary!.

Might have to do with the level of insulin in the blood!.

Like they have to be careful with their eyes also!.

edit : ooops!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.only repeating what others have said already !

Well Rose, am not the doctor in the house here :-)

PS: read that Jupiter in Libra was common (pancreas)Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is true!. My husband's doctor told him not to go barefoot, even in the house!. Most diabetics have loss of feels in their feet!. They can step on something and not even realize it!. They can end up losing their feet or leg from complications due to a sore or a bruise!.

Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

depends on what type they have!. Many can't because they have lost circulation in their feet, and could not feel it if they get a cut or step on something!. Also the wound would not heal, causing infection, causing that to possibly get infected or amputated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely not true!. But some diabetics have slow wound healing particularly in extremities and also some experience numbness in the feet and wounds can go unnoticed and cause problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They can, but they have to be careful not to bump their toes b/c it takes them a while to heal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
