Digestive system problems?!

Question: Digestive system problems!?
i dont get it, even though i go for days eating only fruits and veggies (most of my diet) i cant go to the loo, i thought fruit and veg was high in fiber etc!. any attempt at me telling the docs (regular or digestive specialist) they just look at you like they dont believe you if you are only eating fruit and veg!. I really cant handle laxatives anymore and anyway they arent a long term solution as you just get dependent on them!? any ideas!? does it just not make sense!? there is nothing physically wrong (eg blockages or cysts, etc) and it was triggered by antibiotics a couple years ago but despite probiotics blah blah blah nothing helps =(

any ideas what to do!? bran etc doesnt help as i am intolerant to all sorts of stuff which makes it worse!.!. :/Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
1) Have you been tested for Celiac Disease!? This would be consistent with your bran issues!. Contrary to what many think, Celiac Disease can not only cause diarrhea, it can cause some people constipation!.

2) Have you been tested for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)!? This can occur after antibiotic use and/or use of acid inhibiting drugs like Nexium, Zantac and Pepcid!. The bacterial toxins can create 'havoc' with normal gut regulatory mechanisms!.

3) Have you had a thorough spinal evaluation by your family Chiropractor!? Intersegmental spinal dysfunction can impair nervous system controls of the Gut!.

4) Have your docs ruled-out Hypothyroid problems!? Constipation is a common side-effect of low thyroid function!.

Best wishes and good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Drink a LOT of water and maybe get on Miralax for a while!. It is a very good laxative, non-irritating and non-habit forming!. Ask your doctor about it if you haven't tried it!. Seems to work really well!. Try eating yogurt too!.

If these things don't work than maybe you have IBS with constipation and need to get on medication!. It kind of sounds that way if you are intolerant to a lot of stuff!.

Otherwise get a colonoscopy and see if there is anything going on in there!.

And Keep bugging the doctors about it!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do you get regular exercise!? Walking, swimming, or bicycling would all be good!. I am not ambulatory, but I ride a recumbant bicycle at the gym and do arthritis aquatics!. Perhaps gentle stool softeners would help!.When was your last colonoscopy!? Do you know if you have diverticulitis!? Do you drink 8 glasses of water per day!? I too, have a very intolerant gut and water is a true wonder drug for sluggish colons!. I understand what a quandry you are in!. Try my suggestions and get back to me! Good Luck!!!

dude see ur doctor!. what is wrong with u!? no insurance!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hmmm while fruits and veggies are a good start!.!.!. they can have insufficient fiber (sorry)!.!.!.!. I would try metamucil or one of the inorganic fiber supplements and drink lots of water!. they shouldn't cause any allergic reactions or sensitivities, but give you enough bulk move things along!.

You didn't mention how often you have bowel movements, though!.!.!. the frequency varies for different people from one day to three days!. Anything more than that!.!. or if it accompanies bloating and abdominal pain, should be seen by your doctor!.

You can also try a teaspoon of cod liver oil!.!. it tastes nasty but helps lubricate your gut!. But I would start with the inorganic fiber supplements first!.

Hope everything comes out okay!.!.!. bah!.!.!. sorry couldn't resist the humor!.

Ciao!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
