Answers:
I've read some recent research that carbon nanotubes (made from sheets of graphite rolled up into tubes) can cause symptoms similar to mesothelioma (aka, the lung cancer you get from asbestos)!.

I would definitely wear gloves when you handle it (preferably made from nitrile, and not latex as graphite could penetrate latex) and try not to breathe it in!. Maybe you could wear one of those masks that people wear when they do woodworking that filters the air!. I would also wear some sort of eye protection (safety glasses with side shields or goggles)!.

The problem with carbon in this form (to contradict the first answerer) is that your body cannot use it or break it down to eliminate it as it can for many other chemicals/toxins you might encounter!. If it is in your lungs, there is a good chance your lungs could clear it out by coughing (as they do for dust particles), but graphite could get lodged into the membranes in your lungs just like asbestos particles do, which causes the disease mesothelioma!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
