Help with CTScan results?!

Question: Help with CTScan results!?
My brother is asthmatic!. He recently had difficulty breathing and had low fever so he went for a physical checkup just last week!. He was advised to have a chest xray where it was found that there was a "widening of the mediastinum"!. He then underwent a CTScan, and these are the results:

"Right lower lobe pneumonitis considered!. Anterior mediastinal mass which could be:
1 lymphadenopathies
2 hyperplastic thymus(rebound hyperplasia of the thymus)
3 thymoma"

I am distraught!. I just want any information you could share regarding the above findings!. Thank you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Don't wory about it!. Lymphadenopathy just means his lymph nodes are full, which could be anything from asthma, to infection (treatable most likely) to a lymphoma (also treatable)!.

A hyperplastic thymus is easy to treat!. After the age of 18 our thymus involutes and most of us don't have a functional one so they just remove it

A thymoma is a type of lymphoma in the thymus!. It's probably the worst of the three, but is still really treatable!. I would just sit back and relax, those three options aren't that bad and your brother should be fine!. In all odds, it's just his asthma not well controled!.

Hope that helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. lymphadenopathies - you have many lymphnodes within your mediastinum and if any are inflamed for any reason they would be enlarged and widen your mediastinum!.
2!. Hyperplastic thymus - your thymus shrinks from the time of birth to about 2yrs old to nothing!. Hyperplastic means that for some reason his thymus is growing back, I have never heard of this phenomenon before!.
3!. Thymoma - A tumor of a hyperplastic thymus or normal thymus in an infant!.
Hope I helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com
