Nobody I know has my symptoms...so I must have something different...?!

Question: Nobody I know has my symptoms!.!.!.so I must have something different!.!.!.!?
I found this quote on a website!.!.!.
"In chronic bronchitis, the airways have become inflamed and thickened, and there is an increase in the number and size of mucus-producing cells!. This results in excessive mucus production, which in turn contributes to cough and difficulty getting air in and out of the lungs!. "

All I do is cough up phlem and BEG air to leave my lungs!. That is my trouble!. My doctor claims it is asthma, but I cannot see why!.!.!.

Please help me understand how asthma and chronic bronchitis could ever be "confused"!.!.!.
Which do you think I have!?

I cough if my throat gets hot or cold!. Eating is horrible!. I cannot even go near the door, much less outside!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you could provide some information, such as your age, if you smoke, and if you have allergies, then the answer would be more accurate!.

I have allergen and exercise-induced asthma after living in 2 of the most air-polluted cities in the US for 14 out of the first 15 years of my life (I got asthma at 14)!. Going through school, I was always interested in this topic and I talk on an equal foot with my doctor!.

Your doctor is correct in suggesting asthma!. Difficulty exhaling is a key symptom of asthma versus bronchitis!. Chronic bronchitis is the result of repeated lung infections or one that is sustained for months!.

Your symptoms sound like what I have, allergen-induced asthma!. My lungs fill with fluid and it becomes very difficult to exhale!. Asthma also results in a thickening and inflammation of the lungs!. Left unchecked, you will end up damaging your lungs!.

Allergies in your throat (just up-stream from your lungs) can cause the soreness, difficulty swallowing, and even a little bleeding!. Allergies cause the same type of inflammation as infection!. This is why NyQuil contains an anti-histamine!.

So, here is what I would do!. In the short term, take 1 24-hour anti-histamine (such as Allegra) and 1 4-hour Benedryl at the same time!. If you have allergen-induce asthma, this should improve your symptoms considerably!. Long-term, try a product like Advair diskus for 1 month!. This combines a steroid (to mellow out your lungs allergy response) and a long-acting beta-2 agonist to keep your airways open by relaxing your lung's smooth muscle!. If you get better, then it is asthma and you have joined the millions of others that have asthma due to our messed up air!. If it gets worse, then it is infection related (as the steroids suppress your immune system, making the infection worse)!. Then you can tell your doctor "I told you so!." You may spike a fever during this!. If you do, then that confirms chronic bronchitis due to infection!.

I hope this answers your question!. Suddenly getting this can be very confusing!. If you have any further questions, please email me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suppose it could be chronic bronchitis, but it sounds like severe asthma to me!. You should ask your doctor about it, and tell him/her about your thoughts about the bronchitis!.

I have pretty bad asthma and before the doctors confused it with chronic bronchitis, so it never hurts to double check with them!.

good luck :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

One way to tell the difference between COPD or asthma is long term cigerrett smoking, most COPDs are caused by smoking!. Do you smoke!? Quit it if you do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
