INSULIN -Once a day dosage missed?!

Question: INSULIN -Once a day dosage missed!?
Does anyone know how many days you can safely go without
insulin if you take one shot a day!. I am a diabetic and ran out
because of no money and the free clinic would not treat me until I get an approval from the welfare saying I have no money
which can take up to 90 days!. I have been on insulin for 4 years and it costs $100!.45 a month!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Are you a type 1 or a type 2 diabetic!? Type 1 diabetics can no longer produce their own insulin!. This happens because the cells of the pancreas that make the insulin are destroyed!. Therefore a type 1 diabetic would need the insulin!. Type 2 diabetics can sometimes still produce their own insulin but usually cannot produce enough to meet their needs!. Another thing it that there are different types of insulin!. If you are taking one shot a day it sounds like you are on a long lasting insulin!. Fore example you take the shot in the morning when you get up and it lasts you throughout the day!. I would say if you have been taking insulin for 4 years you're probably not going to get by without it!. I don't want to scare you but please keep checking your blood glucose levels and if it gets too high consider going to the hospital!. High blood sugar levels can cause damage to your blood vessels and vital organs!. If it gets too low you can go into a coma!. Also, try to watch what your eating, i'm sure your doctor has explained this to you!. Here a site that can help with diet http://www!.nlm!.nih!.gov/medlineplus/diabe!.!.!.
Hope everything turns out ok and that you are able to get approved quickly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
