Why not tattoo people who are discovered to have AIDS/HIV?!

Question: Why not tattoo people who are discovered to have AIDS/HIV!?
I think that people with HIV/AIDS sould have to be tattooed so as not to spread the disease!. If I were to run into someone who had it, and we got intimate, I could just take a look where that tattoo would be in case they weren't going to advise me of their situation!. It would be somewhere you would only see if the person were naked!. Is this insane!? Are there other things protecting people from the spread of this disease!? Am I entirely wrong for thinking like this!? Or is this a good idea!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

So lets take it from a policy perspective first!. How would you enforce such a thing!? If you do annual screenings someone may be in the window period and not come up positive yet so they wouldn't be tattooed but still carry the virus!. So you'd still run the risk of contracting the virus!. HIV testing is also very expensive so who do you intend on funding this program!? With HIV becoming a chronic livable condition, HIV funding is drying up real quick so who would pay for it!? Also if your rationale is that we should tattoo people with the virus for public health reasons, then my definition shouldn't be do that also for people with Hep C or how about Herpes!? So my question then becomes where does it end!? What about women who are pregnant and found to be positive!? Should we tattoo them!? And what about individuals that believe tattooing their body is against their religion!? Should be trample on their right to freedom of religion!?

From a human perspective, I cannot agree with such an idea!. Tattooing people implies such strong blame, like they are criminals!. What have they done except live their lives as the best they could have, the only difference being some of their choices left them with long term consequences!. What about the individuals that are raped or are born with the virus!? You want to tattoo someone who had no control about some choices!?

I also believe that it take two to tango so you should always be having protected sex!. If you chose not to use a condom that is a risk you're taking!. Perhaps you should both get an HIV test before you stop using condoms!. What if people took responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming others for not disclosing!. Being diagnosed with HIV can be traumatic to someone and what if they're in denial, or in the case of many women, what if they are fearful of violence and chose not to disclose!. There are many reasons for lack of disclosure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

okay well this doesnt sound too god but i understand what your thinking and i sorta agree with you!. but it would not be a very popular and would also be very hard to get everyone with HIV/AIDS to get this done!. honestly, if the know they have this condition they would probley tell you before you got intimate, but thats just my way of thinking!. call me cynical ,but i do agree slightly but this in not something that would be possible to start/spread in our society!.

Actually, that would be putting a band on people!. How would you feel if one of your family memeber got AIDS and then had to get an "AIDS" tattoo!? People should educate themselves not only on HIV/AIDS but on ALL STDs that are out there!. You have a CHOICE NOT to be sexually active,(unless you're raped)!. When you choose to be sexually active, you choose to put yourself at risk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's a horrible thought! We don't brand an "A" on adulterers, and we don't tatoo people who have diseases that are killing them!. Where do you suppose the tatoos would end!? How about people who have herpes!? How about schitzophrenics!? How about late risers!? I hope you have heard of the halocaust, because that would be a way to open up a new one!. I'm so sorry you feel this way!. It must be lonely!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that would be bad
-what if we found a cure!?
-nazi branded jews, wouldnt it be like the same thing!? belittleing someone
-do you thnk we should brand people with mental disorders or alcoholics or anything like that!? or how about gay ppl!?

it seems like a good idea at first until you really think about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bad Idea!. Nazis wanted people to be able to identify Jews by tattooing their arms so they couldn't escape concentration camps etc!. so basicaly you are thinking like a Nazi good work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just to correct you, schizophrenia is not a contagious disease as you claimed!. Check your facts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is a very practical idea, but would not be very popular!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why stop with HIV/AIDS!? Why not tattoo everyone with a contagious disease!?

Then we could move on to, say, ignorant people so that they don't pollute the gene pool!. On second thought, why don't we just shoot them!?

Education is one thing protecting people from the spread of HIV!. The internet is full of information!. It's free!. You should take advantage of it!.

EDIT: I wonder how you would carry out this plan and I hope you will answer!. If we are going to tattoo people to stop the spread of HIV then that means every person on the planet!. right!? Of course, we would have to quartine every person on earth just to get past the window period!. How would you accomplish the task of rounding up ever human on earth, quartine them, test them and then tattoo them!? How much would this cost!? What happens to the world while every person is in quartine for 3 months!?

How would you eliminate the root cause of the virus, kill every green monkey in the world!?

Then what would you do with people that have other contagious diseases that DO kill!. Would you also round them up and tattoo them!?

Do you think it's possible to accomplish what you are suggesting!?

EDIT: You suggested that if everyone with HIV wore a tattoo then you would act more cautiously around them!. Let me suggest this!. ASSUME that everyone has HIV and act more cautiously!. Be responsible YOURSELF and the spread of HIV stops!.

Yes, you are entirely wrong for thinking like this!. IMOWww@Answer-Health@Com

I understand your feelings, but since HIV is often spread by people who do not yet know they are infected, they would not have the tattoo you mention!. Many people who know they are infected are responsible enough to take precautions in order to prevent transmitting the virus to others (such as always using condoms, or abstinence)!. Also, many people feel bad enough about being infected!. How do you think they would feel walking around with a tattoo that signifies they are infected!? They might be afraid that once people saw that tattoo, people might not want anything to do with them (intimate or casual), since there are still so many misconceptions about how HIV is and is not transmitted!.
***** And as for your question about what else can protect people from getting HIV, INFORMATION is an important part of protection!. Also, instead of worrying about how OTHER people can protect themselves, wouldn't it be easier for YOU to get information about HIV transmission and make better choices to protect YOURSELF (don't use drugs, don't have unprotected sex with strangers or with anyone outside of a stable monogamous relationship, etc)!? It is often the poor choices people make that put them at risk in the first place!. But no one deserves HIV just because they made a bad choice!. And many people have been infected due to circumstances beyond their control (such as being raped, being born with the virus, being infected by someone who doesn't know they have the virus, or being infected by blood transfusion (although this last case happens RARELY now due to testing of the blood supply))!. People with HIV need support, not criticism or avooidance, which is what is likely to happen with your tattoo plan!. Horrible Idea!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

a close friend of mine has HIV and if my friend had to wear a tattoo just 2 say that he/she had HIV, thats like putting he/she on a pedastool for everyone to see!. You should get to know someone before you get intimate with them!.!.!.that's the dumbest idea i've ever heard it makes me mad to even have to answer this question!.!.!.i'm not mad at u but just think about what ur saying!. put urself in the position of a person with HIV/AIDS and than answer ur own question!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
