Serious question needs Serious answer?!

Question: Serious question needs Serious answer!?
My niece keep passin out !. In the last two weeks she has passed out 4 times!. We took her to the doctor and the doctor said that not enough blood is getting to her brain so they called it seizures!. I think its more serious than seizures!. What do you think it could be!. Any help would greatly be appreciatedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
That's quite a few times to pass out in such a short time span!. You could start by keeping a log of when exactly does she pass out!? Is it right before eating or after exercising!? This will help narrow down the reason for your niece's problem!.

Did the doctor order any lab work or x-rays!? Your niece could have something as simple as low blood sugar!. Other possibilities include heart problems!.

If your niece's family isn't satisfied with the answers from the doctor, they have every right to seek a second opinion!. I would ask the current physician to refer your niece to a neurologist for further workup!. If the problem she's having is truly seizures, the neurologist will be able to confirm that!. If it's not seizures, he will be able to give your niece's family some direction on what to do next!. Be sure all of your niece's records are faxed over to the neurologist's office before her appointment so he/she can look over the chart before seeing your niece!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What diagnostic studies has the doctor performed!? At a minimum I would think an EEG (brain wave test), EKG (heart tracing), and blood sugar determination at the time of the fainting spell is necessary!.

A toddler might have breath holding spells!. Vasovagal syncope is another possibility, but four times in two weeks is alarming!. Both of those are frightening, but not generally serious!. Most seizures are accompanied by convulsions, not just passing out!. Low blood sugar is another possibility!. There are several causes!. A defect in the heart rhythm, like a prolonged QT interval, is a potentially serious cause!.

More info is needed to go much further!. I would press your niece's doctor for more explanation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How does she "pass out"!?
Does she feel nauseated, get lightheaded, and then slump over!? Or does she just hit the ground without warning!?
A seizure is actually pretty serious!. That is when the brain has an abnormal "circuit" in it!. Does she shake or thrash when she hits the ground!? That would be like a seizure!.
She needs to have an EEG to check for seizure!.
She needs to have an EKG to make sure her heart is okay
She needs to have a CAT scan to check her head
If they did all of the above, I would trust the diagnosis!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A second opinion sounds like a good idea!. I would make an appointment with a neurologist for her to be properly evaluated!. If her condition continues to get worse before you are able to get in to see the neurologist I would take her to your local ER so she can get a head cat scan done!. Depending on the seriousness of the results they will contact a neurologist for you at that timeWww@Answer-Health@Com

Take her to another doctor to be sure!. Never trust just 1 doctors opinion, been there did that & for myself I was misdiagnosed for 11yrs because of what my doctor told me!. See a specialist who deals w/ the brain & go from there!. Never trust just 1 doctor's opinion!. Good Luck!.!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
