I cant take my son to his pediatrician until monday, and i'm not sure that its worth going to the emergency room for, but he developed this weird rash out of nowhere, ive been using hydrocortizone and neosporin on it for like 2 days now, and it's not going away, i think its actually getting worse, i have pics of it if someone could maybe take a look at them an see if u have any ideas as to what may help it until i can get him into the dr!.

Answers:
A simple rash is called dermatitis, meaning inflammation of the skin!. Contact dermatitis is caused by things your skin touches, such as:
* Chemicals in elastic, latex, and rubber products
* Cosmetics, soaps, and detergents
* Dyes and other chemicals in clothing
* Poison ivy, oak, or sumacWww@Answer-Health@Com

i recently took my daughter to the emergency room for a rash that covered her whole body -- the doctor shrugged it off as hives or something else viral!. if it isn't itching uncontrollable or causing discomfort i would just wait until monday morning and have him looked at by his regular doc!.

my daughter took benedryl for three days and then switched to children's claritin for 7 days -- her rash took two weeks to clear up!. it looked to me like fifths disease, which is viral and there's nothing that will "cure" the rash!.

the other answers are great -- all the same things my doc told me about watching for respiratory distress and fever : )Www@Answer-Health@Com

Neosporin won't do anything for a rash!. Hydrocortisone can help many things (eczema, itching, bug bites, etc!.) it won't fix everything!. The fact that it may be getting worse is concerning!.

Is he itching!? Fever!? Any drainage from the rash!? Where is it on his body!? How long has it been there!? Has it changed in appearance over time!?

It is really very hard to tell for sure without more information!. I don't know where you live but most areas have nurse hotlines to answers questions like this!. Look up your local children's hospital online and see if they have a nurse line!.

I'm willing to help if you give more info!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

What about poison oak / ivy / or sumac!?
any small clearish blisters, or ones that have ruptured that are oozy!. Trying not to get to graphic here!.
Does it make him itch!?
Does he have a fever!?
Is the rash dry or "wet" in look!?
If he's been outside he may have got poison oak or 1 of the above!. If it's dry looking and patchy he may be having a allergic reaction to something like a new soap or food!.
It's hard to tell from your description!. Try to tell us a bit more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
