I was watching a TV show on the health channel the other day and I was wondering if you could have a seizure while your heart was stopped like on the tv show!. How can that work!? Your body would still move even though your heart was stopped!? How does that work!? please help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Seizures are determined by electrical impulses in your nervous system!. The nervous system is what causes your body to move, not your heart!. Your heart merely pumps around the oxygen and carries out the waste!. If your heart is stopped, you are on "bypass" which means your body has oxygen by machine while your heart has stopped (usually for a heart operation)
The electical impulses that come from the brain and travel down the nerves could still cause the body to move!. However, if you are under anesthesia, your body will NOT move, because you are given a medication that prevents all motion!. Can you imagine how hard it might be to operate on someone who was thrashing around, LOL!? And yes, you can have a seizure in the brain even if you are paralyzed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your brain and your heart are two different organs and function separately and even when you are asleep, your brain is constantly working, even though the rest of your body may not be moving!.

I suffer from Petit Mal seizures and can not even begin to tell you what may trigger an onset of one other than possibly stress and I have been told that I completely black out for a few minutes, my eyes roll back into my head and I start moaning incoherently and when I do come to, I have absolutely no recollection of what happened and I feel very weak!. I am on medication to try to control them and will have to be for the rest of my life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
