Question: Autoimmune Hepatitis!.!.!.it sucks! :-(!?
i was diagnosed with this disease last yr and spent my birthday getting a biopsy done!.!.!.just wondering who else has this disease, id love to talk 2 someone who knows what its like to go through the same crap i go through!. :-) thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I found two sites for autoimmune support groups (although both are the same address)!. The first one is a list of support groups by state!. The second one is a listing of on line support groups!.

Most patients require long-term, low-dose maintenance treatment!. Liver transplantation may be required for end-stage disease!. (Merck)
Treatment :
Prednisone or other corticosteroids help reduce the inflammation!. Azathioprine and mercaptopurine are drugs used to treat other autoimmune disorders, which have shown to help patients with autoimmune hepatitis as well!.
Outlook (Prognosis):
The outcome varies!. Corticosteroid therapy may slow the disease progression!. However, autoimmune hepatitis may progress to cirrhosis and require liver transplant!.
Possible Complications:
* Cirrhosis
* Liver cell failure
* Hepatocellular carcinoma
* Complications related to steroids and other medications
