Are beta blockers safe?!

Question: Are beta blockers safe!?
Im on them for panic attacks - I had 6 attacks in 2 weeks so went to the doctor (whilst having one) and he said i was hyper-ventilating and prerscribed me beta blockers!. I read the details in the pack and amongst the list of side effects was the possibility of heart failure!. So this coupled with the fact that im a raging hyperchondriac means i havent actually taken a tablet yet!. Ive had 1 attack in the month since ive gone to the doctors (ironically an hour after coming out of his surgery) and had the begginings of one today (until i managed to pre-occupy my mind), but aside from this i feel slightly better!. Anyhow, are they ok to take!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, well, reading the fine print, eh!?
Beta blockers are one of the oldest medications that we have, and now we are discovering that they are also one of the safest and most useful!. I like to use them instead of those fancy new expensive drugs that have not really been proven to be safe yet!.
Now, beta blockers are actually used to TREAT heart failure, although back in the dark ages we thought they would cause it!. In fact, the only people who get "heart failure worsening" from beta blockers are those who have extremely low ejection fractions (which means their heart is barely pumping, and so the "relaxation" from the drug tips them over the edge) We also give beta blockers to prevent damage from heart attacks!. It is also now found (much to the embarrassment of big pharma companies) to be the safest anti-hypertensive on the market!.
Did you know you can die from drinking too much water!? It is gospel truth, but that doesn't stop you from drinking water, now does it!?
Anyway, yes, beta blockers are quite safe!. Here is your warning though, once you start them, don't STOP SUDDENLY because that could cause a rebound of your symptoms or high blood pressure!. If you wish to stop them, taper them off, for example, take half the dose, then half the dose every other day, etc and stop over the course of a couple of weeks for a best result!.
Sorry for your panic attacks, I hope the beta blockers will help, the next step would be an anti-depressant with anti anxiety effect such as paxil, and then if that didn't work, it would be xanax for you, although that one is addictive and somewhat sedating!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
