A question for people with MS or Devic's Disease.?!

Question: A question for people with MS or Devic's Disease!.!?
I have not been diagnosed yet- but the doc says I either have MS or Devic's (which is similar to MS, but very rare)!. 2 months ago, i had numbness in everything below my waist!. It was followed by optic neuritis (which was a month ago) On saturday, I started experience numbness in everything above the waist!. My stomach is numb and tingly, my hands and back!. Is this common with MS!?

I understand there are different types of MS and everyone's symptoms and reaction to it is different!. Has anyone ever had this happen!? How often does it happen!?

I can barely feel my hands or move my fingers to type!. It feels as though they weigh a ton!. Is there anything to make it feel better!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I'm sorry to hear you might have MS or Devic's disease!. I hope everything goes well for you!.

Since MS is such an individual disease, there's no telling how often attacks will happen!. Some people have 1 attack during their life, some have several attacks per year!. Also, attack-rates can suddenly decrease or increase!.

Numbness/tingling and optic neuritis are common MS symptoms and considered among the milder ones!.

If you have MS, you can speak to your doctor about treatment, both attack-preventive treatment, symptom treatment and treatment to speed up recovery after an attack!.

What you can do yourself is to try not to get stressed or upset, as this can aggrevate your symptoms/trigger an attack!. Also many people with MS (including myself) feel a worsening of symptoms if we are too warm or sick!.

I have had 3 attacks in 5 years, two of them within 6 months of each other!. This was right at the beginning and before/right after I started taking Avonex!.

My first attack was numbness in the left half of my face, second attack was numbness in everything below my waist, just like you've experienced it, third attack was weakness in my right arm (difficulties holding a pencil) and a feeling as if I had a tight bandage on my lower arm!.

I also tire faster than I used to, and I have a lesion in the language center of my brain that means I sometimes have difficulties finding the right words, or if I'm tired, I can start typing nonsense on the computer, not at all corresponding to what I want to write!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
