Please help:)?!

Question: Please help:)!?
hi,
I have had many symptoms of diabetes (type 1) and my diabetic friend checked my blood about 20 minutes after eating about 12 ounces of pop corn and it was 130!. He is checking it tomorrow at 2:40 and 2 hours after I eat!. Is this when my blood sugar will spike!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
About two hours after eating is when your blood sugar level would be at it's highest!. This, undoubtedly, is why your friend will check your blood sugar before you've eaten, and then again a few hours later!.

Your friend will NOT be able to determine from a simple fingerprick test if you're type 1 or type 2!. Other things that might give him an idea as to which type you are would be your weight, the amount of exercise you currently take, the type of diet you are on, your ethnicity, whether you have hypertension (high blood pressure), whether you have hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), etc!.

The only way to know for sure which type of diabetes you have !.!.!. assuming that you are diabetic, is by having various tests done by a doctor!. S/he will undoubtedly do a fasting plasma glucose test (that's taken after you haven't eaten from the night before); a HbA1c (glycosulated hemoglobin) test, which shows what your blood sugar level has been like over the previous 90-120 days; possibly a glucose tolerance test, where you fast, have your blood drawn, are given a sickly sweet drink, called glucola, to imbibe and then have your blood sugar levels tested periodically for a few hours after!. S/he may also do a blood test called a c-peptide test!. Although this is expensive, and many doctors shy away from this test, it will determine whether or not your pancreas is producing insulin!.

These combined tests will allow the doctor to determine which type of diabetes you have, and which type of treatment might be appropriate for you!.

Type 1 diabetics ALWAYS have to have insulin injections !.!.!. or an infusion pump!.

Type 2 diabetics might have a combination of treatments such as, tablets that make the body's cells more receptive to the effects of insulin that they still produce, tablets that stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin, diet, and depending on how advanced the diabetes is, insulin injections!.

Whatever happens, I wish you the very best of luck for a happy, healthy, trouble-free life!.

Edit:

As an afterthought, did your friend ensure that you had clean fingers before taking your intial blood for testing!? You must ensure that your fingers are clean for this type of fingerprick test!. There are many foods and drinks, and possibly other contaminants, that will affect the reading given by a blood sugar meter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your blood sugar usually spikes within 30-45 minutes after you eat!. And eating popcorn-that is a simple sugar which means you may get a false result when you check your blood sugar!. All the popcorn will get digested quickly and will cause your blood sugar to spike and fall!.

If you are showing signs of Type 1 diabetes-I would suggest going to your doctor!. They may be able to answer all of your questions and take a blood sample so you know what is going on!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

130 after eating popcorn is perfect!!! i have insulininoma a rare and low blood sugar dying disease if that makes it simple!!! you are fine!. a normal blood sugar range (without food is 70-110) which means if you ate buttery salty popcorn and it was only 130 you are FINE!!! it only takes 9 1/2 min for food to fully digest into your body so if your checking at 20 min dont sweat it!. it doesnt matter what time you check it depends on your diet!. stick to healthy light foods nothing fried or greasy!. and honestly if your that concerned about it go to the doctor and get an extensive blood test ran!!! waiting 2 hours after you eat will do nothing after 30 min it is stupid for even checking!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
