Can Hydrocodone cause hallucinations?!

Question: Can Hydrocodone cause hallucinations!?
Or is this end of life issues!. My mom is in the final stages of pancreatic cancer, and the last few days has been having hallucinations!. Today the hospice nurse called us at home!. (We live a 6hr drive away) My mom says we were visiting her this morning and we got mad at her and left!. We called to talk to her and she was extremely agitated, and confused!. She kept asking where we were!. She thinks we were there, but we were at home, and haven't seen her since last Thursday!. The Dr had to sedate her!. The nurse said it could be the drugs, but never really gave us an answer!. Can too many drugs do this>

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Drugs can do that but also sometimes the cancer can spread to the brain and have those effects!. I am very, very sorry!. I know how hard it is as I've been there with my dad!. All you can really do now is try to keep her as comfortable as possible and if it takes those strong drugs, then so be it!. Hugs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The asker and first two answerers - you're like triplets!.

Seriously - I don't know about that drug specifically - but it's crazy what drugs can do to brain chemistry!. Three of my grandparents had extended nursing home stays before they pass!. Two of them had delusional episodes at times!. They were each on several medications for physical ailments!. I don't believe we got an exact answer from the doctors!. I really don't think they even know sometimes!. My guess is when the body is failing - up until the moment it gives up - it keeps fighting, trying to compensate for whatever ails it - and at some point the body has to bring all resources to bare in battling to keep the body going, at the expense of mental stability!. That's not scientific, I know - but that's the best way I can explain it on short notice!.

I hope your mom stabilizes and is able to rest comfortably and visit with you and the family again soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

omg, pancreatic cancer in the last stages is very rough,i knew of a lady that i named my youngest child after she had died from that, after being diagnosed 6 months!.i feel really bad for you and your family, this is a traumatic thing for everyone to go through!.as for the medication,i'm not sure if that would cause her to go into them hallucinations, being agitated and being confused,i would think its her cancer moving itself around her brain and causing her to act the way she is,but i'm not a doctor or a specialist!.i will be thinking of your mom and you and pray for her to not be in pain and cherish every moment ya'll have t/g!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
