What are the chances of a 19 year old having breast cancer?!

Question: What are the chances of a 19 year old having breast cancer!?
I am 19 yrs old and a lump was recently found in my breast!. I had an ultrasound and found that it was a solid mass!. Then I had biopsy and today I met with the surgeon again and he said it looks like fibroadenoma and favors it but there are atypical "peculiar" cells also in the sample!. He said it needs to be removed!. I was just wondering what the chances are of it being cancer!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Generally the chances of having breast cancer at your age are very low indeed!. 80% of people diagnosed with it are over 50, and women in their 20s and 30s with breast cancer are considered young to have it and account for only a very small percentage of those diagnosed!.

It is extremely rare in someone as young as you are!.

Nobody here can tell you for sure; it sounds to me as if your surgeon is erring on the side of caution, which is wise in my opinion!.

I don't kmow what he meant by peculiar cells; there are a couple of cancer doctors who answer questions on here sometimes who give excellent answers - with luck one of them will be along to advise you!.

Meanwhile, bear in mind how rare breast cancer is at your age, and how sensible it seems to follow your surgeon's advice to investigate and deal with this now!.

Sorry I can't be of more helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

Hard to say, how large was this growth!? Be sure to have it removed quickly!. I believe that a small fraction (less than 10%) of suspected fibroadenomas are actually cancerous!. Probably just a benign tumor though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The chances could be very small!. Have you had a mammogram!? If your doctor says it needs to removed think about it!. My grandmother was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer!.
I'm sorry think it may not be cancer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is possible!. But I would venture to say unlikely due to your age!. Do you have any family history of breast cancer!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

the biopsy sample should of been test for cancer,,,Www@Answer-Health@Com
