When you are domating blood do they test for std right there in your presence or!

Question: When you are domating blood do they test for std right there in your presence or what!?
Answers:
It depends!. I had a friend who used to donate, and they tested his blood first and told him he couldn't donate because he had HIV!. Other times they will take your blood, test it, and if there is a problem they will send you a letter saying there is something wrong and to go to your doctor!. That happened to a lot of people after 9/11 when they went to donate and had no idea they had HIV!. But you shouldn't be donating blood just to get an HIV or hepatitis test in the first place! Go to a clinic or your doctor if you think you have an STDWww@Answer-Health@Com

they only test specifically for what the doctor requests, which you have a right to know what those tests are!. they only check for hiv and hepatitis routinely in blood, although they can do herpes or hpv I believe, but those are usually collected on a swab from the genital area!. the results of hiv/hepatitis tests can take up to a week, and if an hiv is positive, they usually reflex the test and do another confirmatory test called a western blot !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, the blood is transported to the lab for testing!.if something is wrong with your blood, they will send you a registered letter in the maile!. I received one, said i couldn't donate blood anymore because during random testing the found lymphocytec T- cell Leukemia!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nope, all donated blood goes to lab for testing(thats what the four little vials are for) and you will be notified if your blood is unsafe to use and why!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
