Are blood tests free on the NHS?!

Question: Are blood tests free on the NHS!?
I'm concerned I may have hypothyroidism but don't want to have a long discussion with the doctor, can I just get a blood test!? And is it free on the NHS!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes blood tests are free on the NHS but you need to go to your Dr's surgery to have it done and he won't authorise a blood test unless he feels it is medically necessary!. Your practice nurse may be willing to do the test without you seeing your GP first but it depends on your surgery's policy!. It really would be better to just make an appointment with your Dr and there is no reason why it should mean a long discussion!.!.!.just explain your symptoms and that you are concerned you may have an underactive thyroid and he will probably be more than willing to test you!. Good LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com

yes if you need them!

As you have to be given a blood test by your GP if he or she thinks the test is necessary - or get referred to a specialist for a particular blood test

If it is for HIV or STDs then go to a GU clinic - look up your nearest one on the Internet - they are free there too - even if you are not legally in the UKWww@Answer-Health@Com

You have to see your GP!. You would then have to wait for an appointment at your local surgery, but some areas allow you to go to the Hospital when it suits you to speed things up!.

You cannot get a Blood Test without seeing your GP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

blood tests are free i have had serveral and NEVER had to pay for one!. some doctors do blood tests at their clics so you may not have to be sent to the hospital from your doctor!.
hope this helps
