Can herpes be detected in a blood or urine test?!

Question: Can herpes be detected in a blood or urine test!?
Answers:
I do not believe herpes can be detected in urine!. Herpes is a virus, and as such it cannot be cultured in a dish like a bacteria can!.

Herpes can be detected in blood, but it's a little complicated!. If your body has herpes, then it will make antibodies against herpes!. We can use 'serology' to find those antibodies and confirm the diagnosis!.

The tricky part for the lab is that Herpes type I causes oral herpes (cold sores) and about 90% of the population had them!. Where as Herpes type II is genital!. A lot of blood tests confuse the antibodies!.

So what are we to do!? Well!.!.!. you see there are two types of antibodies!. The first type is IgM!. The second type is IgG!. IgG is very specific because it indicates a long term infection!.

When people test positive for herpes type II by a type-specific IgG blood test, they are almost always infected with genital herpes and can transmit the infection to others, even if they have never experienced recognizable symptoms!. There are several good studies that have provided data related to this specific issue!.

I hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

urine test no, blood tests yes, but you have to say I want to be tested for herpes, they can't test you for anything you are not willing to be tested for!. Also a culture swab of a sore also could detect herpes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Herpes can be tested from blood and swabs from open sores!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
