Question: How can I get rid of bad eczema on my face without steroids!? Please - i'm desperate!!!!?
I've had eczema on my face, arms and legs since I was a baby!. However, when I was about 6 It calmed down and I haven't had it on my face since, but recently - about 7 monthes ago, I had a huge flare up on my face and it started as a small red patch and eventually spread across my face!. I went to see my GP and he gave me some steroid cream it worked fantastically but once I stopped using it, it came back within a matter of days!. I'm terrified that no matter what I do - It will never go away, i've tried all the creams and I can't use too much steroid cream on my face!. Please help!!! I'm so self conscious I can't even look in the mirror without welling up!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Eczema is a symptom rather than a disease!. Your immune system is reacting to some kind of stimulus which is making it produce too many white blood cells!. Find out why and you can get rid of the cause!. Common problems are detergents (especially fabric softeners) and foods!.

Applying a topical steroid treats the symptoms!. It gives the surplus white cells something to do!. Provided you don't eat the stuff, the only long term side effect of steroid ointments is that they tend to make your skin tight and shiny!.

I suggest you have another go at the steroid ointment, but ask your doctor to refer you to a skin specialist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

my nephew has pretty bad eczema on his face and as gross as this sounds put some olive oil where the skin is try and scabby and don't wash it off, just leave it til your skin absorbs it

it moistens it and makes the redness look less angry and it will eventually dissapear for a while and when it comes back just apply more olive oil, it works for my nephew so hopefully it'll work for you, if you're too grossed out by applying olive oil just use some normal vaseline although it isnt as effective

hope i helped :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

this may seem crazy, but my brother had incredibly bad eczema for years, all over his body!. he went for bio-energy therapy and his eczema has completely healed!. maybe it was coincidence, i don't know!. it's the kinda thing you need to believe in for it to work i suppose!. i don't really believe in it(that said i don't believe in paracetamol either!.!.!.), per say, but it did change him completely!. you should give it a shot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm sorry you have this nasty condition, ask you GP about exposing your skin to the sunshine I have always found that skin conditions improve when I am on holiday!. This could be less stress together with sunshine and perhaps seawater!.Even if there is no medical proof it would surly lift your spirits good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

I also have eczema it's also really bad!. Sometimes I can't even sleep because of the itching!. As for the red patches, I have had a bunch of them, and they go away pretty quickly!. Those steriod creams work like a charm, but if you don't want continuous use of them, use some moisterizers!. One of the reasons why eczema is persistant is because the skin is dry!. Also try a new cream called Ceravee (ask at Costco) or something like that!. My doctor recommended it!. It replenishes the skin with the stuff it's short of in people with eczema!. I myself find some relief in moisturizers, but it doesn't cure it!. If you are only concerned with the patches, try washing your face with less irritant soap, and use less hot water!. Instead use lukewarm water!. People also recommend that you wash less!. This isn't always practical, but it works to some extent in people!. Oh yeah, you can also try anti-histimines!. They will also reduce swelling sometimes!. Keep trying things, and you'll find exactly what you need!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have eczema on my face as well!.

Although it's been "black-boxed" as a possible skin cancer risk http://www!.elidel!.com/info/tools/safety!.!.!.!. I found that Elidel helped my eczema!. It isn't a steroid, so it can be used with a steroid cream!. I have use Elidel occasionally (weekly) for almost 10 years now!.

You may want to talk to your physician about using Elidel!. He/she may be able to give you samples to help you decide!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
