Some hot-buttered loving always knocks me out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First- don't stress about it! If you are worried you won't fall asleep before you even try it sets the stage for sleeplessness!.

Some things to try: Make sure your sleeping space is neat and uncluttered if at all possible!. Make the bed so the sheets are smooth and the covers are ready to pull over you!.

An hour before you want to sleep, take a shower to just stand in the water - use a shower cap if you don't want to mess with your hair!. Let hot water run on your neck and shoulder muscles!.
Stay away from mental stimulation- no phone, keep any tv watching light and breezy, and turn it off before going to sleep!.
I have heard about the melatonin supplements but have not tried them!. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that we must ingest- out bodies do not produce it- and it is necessary to produce seratonin in our brains which the melatonin also helps!. You can find many foods with tryptophan in them and a small snack before bed with a food that contains it will double as a hunger stopper and sleep helper!. Look here for some ideas http://www!.nutritiondata!.com/foods

Once in bed, get comfy!. (if sex is possible, now is the time! then go to next suggestion!) Start with some deep breathing- in through your nose, out through you mouth and visual all the stress of the day being pushed out of your body!. Then, starting with your toes, tighten small muscle groups- hold for count of 5 then release!. work your way up body and down you arms and don't forget facial muscles!. 10 more deep breaths and hopefully you will be relaxed, soothed and ready for sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had chronic insomnia since I was 2 and tried just about everything there is!.

I'm not sure if you consider this medicine or not, but you can buy Melatonin supplements in the Pharmacy!. They're over the counter and completely natural!. Melatonin is what your body produces to make you sleepy, and taking them is just helping your body out with the process!. I've never heard of anyone overdosing on them (although I wouldn't try since you can technically OD on just about anything)!. It doesn't make you sleep, just makes you drowsy enough to fall asleep easier!.

On the bottle I have it doesn't say anything about taking too much, only says not to take it if you're pregnant or nursing (since I guess it could OD the baby)!.

Other things that work for me is to take a shower!. I've heard people speak against that, and it's part of my nightly ritual RIGHT before I go to bed (when the meds to knock me out are starting to work), so I don't know!. But, like I said, it's part of my nightly routine, so!.!.!.

Anyways, other things I've hard are not to do anything even slightly stimulating for an hour before bed (such as any kind of work, watching TV, reading a book, etc), and to lay in bed in quiet for an hour!.

I grew up with insomnia, so doing that to me is more stressful than watching TV, reading a book, and working combined, so I just let the medicines knock me out!. The very thought of it stresses me out!. I don't know about you though!.

Anyways, hope something I said works for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suffered from insomnia for a long time!.!.!. and I am not one to medicate, so I tried this years ago!.!.!.it is a sort of self hypnosis!.

Create a routine!. A sequence of about 10-15 things to do before you go to bed!.!.!. and when you are feeling tired, start your sequence all while telling yourself that you are tired and are going to sleep now!.!.!. going to sleep!.!.!. and keep repeating this!.!.!. in your head say things like!.!.!. you are very relaxed and at ease!.!.!. and it is time for you to goto sleep!.
Everything should remain in order!.!.!.
get up off the couch
lock the doors
check to make sure nothing is left on, like the oven
turn off lights in the house
brush teeth
go to bathroom
wash up
turn out bathroom light
get undressed
crawl into bed
turn out light

Some things I took out because they were pet related
then after a short time, you will find that you just nod off
as soon as your head hits the pillow!.!.!. I personally started by having a glass of wine or two before bed, and then weaned myself off of it after a few weeks!.
This WILL NOT work like a charm the first time!.!.!.!. it takes a little brain conditioning, but it will after a couple of weeks!.!.!.

Also, I might be able to better help you if you could isolate what it is exactly that is keeping you up!.!.!. like your thoughts, or muscle cramps or something specific, that is keeping you from falling asleep and once you are down, keeping you from staying asleep!.

Email me if you have any questions or more information!. I have learned a great deal about this stuff and have endured many a sleep study!. Always refusing medication and surgery!.!.!. in the end, I won!.!.!. do you know that they actually wanted to insert electrodes into my brain to try to induce a sleep reaction!? HA! Friggin Lunacy! It never happened!.!.!. I am insane enough already!.!.!. no sense etch-a-sketching my head any more than it already was!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oddly, a few shots of single malt Scotch work for me; beer and wine don't!.

Often, I find that broadcast TV will help put me to sleep; and it's still free!.

Y!A is horrible --- like heartburn, it will keep you up all night, without any side benefits of keeping it up all night!.!.!.!.

Lastly, since you asked a serious question, and you deserve a serious answer: Physical labor!. Exercise your body during the day, exercise to the point of exhaustion, and your body will force you to sleep at night!. Listening to your body is a better deal than listening to your mind regarding sleep!.

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!. If they do, take your shoe, and beat them 'till they're black & blue!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try not to eat late at night!. You might try warm milk, or hot tea!. Don't drink caffeine after noonish!. Maybe a warm relaxing bath, and then go straight to bed!. I hope one of these works for you!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
