Answers:
you need to go eat some protein!.!.!.cheese and meat and peanuts!. go now and eat this, and lay down and you will feel better!. and next time no more choco tacos or soda!.!.!.they are terrible for you!

go eat the protein and lay down and take your metformin in the morning with a good meal like scrambled eggs, sausage, and one slice of whole wheat toast!. maybe an apple too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would suggest when you feel "normal" again, and can drive somewhere, go to a walgreens or walmart or any other store that would carry blood glucose meters!. You don't have to have a prescription to purchase a meter, although insurance will not cover one without a prescription!. You could buy one of the disposable types!. They really aren't all that expensive when it comes to your health!. Then next week, you could call your doctor and ask them for a meter and a prescription for test strips, lancets, ect!. Most doctors offices have free meters too!. If they still won't get you the supplies than I would just buy it yourself if you can afford it, and then find a different doctor that will help you!! An endocrinologist specializes in diabetes!.
Sorry, I know that wasn't really your question, but it is hard to know if you are high or low from the symptoms!. I often feel the same symptoms for both, although lows I am much more weak and highs I am constantly peeing!! Best of luck to you!. Any other questions, just ask!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like your blood sugar is high!. Metformin does not usually cause lows!.

Here is some info on your medicine, it might help to read it!. Also you can get a meter at any pharmacy, you can also get one free, info is also on the page provided in the link!.
Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A med question is hard to determin, I'd call your doc, or better yet get someone to drive you to the ER, when it comes to your health don't risk itWww@Answer-Health@Com

Check your sugar level!. Then you can determine your options at that time!. Take your meds regardless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Metformin doesn't work like insulin!. You shouldn't not take Metformin if you are feeling low because it's not a fast-acting medication, it works by building up slowly in your system!. It's worse to skip a dose!.

Low blood sugar isn't really about feeling tired, you feel shaky, sweaty, nervous, confused mentally like your head is in a fog!. It sounds like you could have gone high from that overload of sugar and are now dipping low, but it could also be that you're just feeling crappy from eating junk food!.

I would call your doctor first thing Monday morning and demand a meter because there's no way to really tell if your sugar is low or high by feel!. It's irresponsible to have a patient on medication for diabetes without a meter!. The treatment for low blood sugar is a fast-acting sugar like soda or juice, plus something with protein and about 15 additional carbs after your level has stabilized!. But if you have high blood sugar the only way to treat it if you don't have insulin on hand is to go to the ER!.

You're probably fine but if you live alone and you're feeling worse, go to the ER!. If you have a doctor you can call this time of night give them a call!.

Edit: Allicat, I was thinking the same thing - that metformin doesn't cause lows like that, and I even typed it out, but I couldn't find reference to that so I wasn't sure if it was true!. I've been on Metformin for several years and the only times I have a low are when I've miscalculated on the insulin I also take!. In my experience it helps even me out so that I don't dip either low nor high!. Very different from humalog, say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
