How easy (or hard) is it to contract Hepatitis?!

Question: How easy (or hard) is it to contract Hepatitis!?
I work with someone who has Hepatitis!. I'm not sure what type she has, but I know for a fact she has it!. We don't work with needles or anything like that, but can I catch it if we share the same bathroom!? Can I catch it if I've touched something that she's touched, like cash or a cash register!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Depends on what kind of Hepatitis she has!. Hep A is the kind that food workers often get and pass along by not washing their hands!. It is spread by fecal contamination of water and food!. It can be passed by not washing the hands after changing a soiled diaper, or eating raw or partially cooked shell fish infected with HAV!.

Type B can be passed by bodily fluids, sex, tattoos, piercings, needles!.

Type C is a little harder to transmit!. You can't get it from shaking hands, using the same toilet, kissing!. It is very rarely transmitted by sex!. It is transmitted by blood to blood contact!. Tattoos, piercings, sharing needles, sharing an infected persons personal hygine items that may have the persons blood on them, like razors and toothbrushes!. But this dried blood must find it's way into your blood stream through some sort of open wound!. My husband has had Hep C for 40 years, and I have never gotten it from him!.

And for the answer Go Gators!. There is no cure for Hep C!. Even with a liver transplant the disease will reappear in 3 to 5 years!. The disease is a virus in the blood which can destroy the liver eventually if the person does not take care!. But getting a liver transplant only helps the person who has a very damaged liver by replacing that liver!. It does not kill the Hep C!. Hi Alexa,
I have the perfect website for you: www!.cdc!.gov/hepatitis
They have the information about Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E!. It is a scary disease!. I am an operating room nurse and lost a friend last year to a needle stick from a patient with HepC!. We cannot ask patients if they have diseases(they can ask us); and when doing heart surgery some of the needles we use are as small as eyelashes!. The surgeon had just taken a stitch and handed her the needle; unfortunately, he handed it to her backwards!. He, obviously, felt horrible and at this point we can ask for lab work regarding infectious disease!. They came back positive for HepC!. She fought long and hard and was waiting for a liver transplant at the University of Florida when she passed!. No one thinks nursing can be "hazardous" to your health! We all miss her very much!Www@Answer-Health@Com
