Why is my friend's kidney area protruding?!

Question: Why is my friend's kidney area protruding!?
A friend of mine has an old scar on his kidney where he was stabbed several years ago!. He was taken to the hospital at the time and even had blood in his urine, but they sent him home from the hospital and there were no further complications!.

Recently, he has a protrusion on his back right where the scar is on his kidney!. I have no idea if the two are related at all!. There is no pain when he pushes on the area, although, he says that when he twists or bends there is pain in the kidney area!. I've told him that he will need blood work and probably a CT scan or ultrasound!. But I just wanted to hear from anybody out there who has seen something like this before!. He's not sick or anything, and is not complaining about urinated more frequently!. What could this be!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
What you're describing sounds like an incisional hernia!.An incisional hernia occurs in the abdomen in the area of an old surgical scar!. A part of an organ in the abdomen, such as the bowel or intestines, or in your friend's case a kidney, protrudes through the weakened area of the abdominal wall!. He will need to see his a doctor and it is very likely he will need surgery to repair the hernia!. He will not need blood work or a CT scan to diagnose an incisional hernia, although he will need blood work done before surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
