Can a human contract rabies from the blood of an animal?!

Question: Can a human contract rabies from the blood of an animal!?
Yesterday, my dog brought us a present after his afternoon run; a baby bunny!. The poor thing was squealing and squealing and it took me a while (and a big cookie) to get my dog to let it go!. I picked it up and it's back legs were bleeding and took it back to its nest!. (In hindsight, I probably made an owl or hawk very happy that night!.) Anyways, some blood got on my fingers!. I bite my fingers, nails, etc!. I doubt any of the blood got in any cuts and whatnot, and the poor thing probably didn't even have rabies, but it still makes me wonder: Can a human contract rabies from the blood of an animal!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You can get rabies from the blood or saliva of an infected animal, but the odds that a baby rabbit would be carrying rabies are so small that I personally wouldn't worry about it at all!. If you're concerned and rabies is a big problem where you live, you can call a doctor and have the rabies shot series - painful and expensive and it only works BEFORE you start to show symptoms!. It's a lousy way to die!.

Next time, ALWAYS wear rubber gloves before you touch any animal, even if it's dead!. Don't handle any mammal that could bite you!. Call animal control to deal with it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. Under the circumstances, you are probably safe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
