Answers:
The primary reason for pap smear is to get a sample of cervical cells to look for abnormalities (cancer, precancerous conditions, and disease)

It does NOT check for HIV!. If you're feeling like you're not sure, ask your doctor to check for all STDs!. If you had any unprotected sex or failed condom, *definitely* request a STD check!. It's actually normal and a good doctor should be asking you about your history so he can suggest to do these tests!.

If the tests come back negative, don't forget about this!. Swollen lymph glands are a sign of a problem!. I had them for a long time with I had an undiagnosed Epstein Barr (mononeucleosis) infection, and nobody understood why I terrible!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your gyno will be able to tell you!. Please don't wait next time so long to get a Pap, one you started to get sexually active you should have got a Pap right away and got on some birth control!. I am not really sure why you have waited 2 years to seek out medical care when you think you might have an STD, especially when you probably have slept with other people in that time and could have spread something!. Chlamydia doesn't show symptoms in women and if you have had that for the last 2 years you are damaging your reproductive system and may never be able to have children!. If $$ is an issue of why you haven't seeked med attention you can go to the clinic in your area!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

STD's aren't the only thing that cause swollen lymph nodes!. Your lymphatic system is basically a filtration system!. If you ever check when you're feeling sick, you'll notice swollen lymph nodes!. Blood tests are the main way to look for HIV!. Actually, they look for antibodies!. The initial test is known as a screening test!. If this comes up positive, they do a confirmatory test!. They do the confirmatory test because it is possible to get a false positive in the screening test!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

HIV can only be diagnosed via a blood test!.

Smears will usually show up bacterial STDs such as chlamydia and gonohhoea!.

It's important to get a full screen for all STDs as there is a treatment for every single STD going and it's well worth the peace of mind knowing if you're in the clear or not!. Ask the gynae to take a blood test to check for HIV and syphillis whilst you're there to make sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It really depends on the methods your doctor uses, The available tests may be blood tests, urine tests, or oral fluid tests!. Just communicate with your doctor!

Good Luck! Will be thinking about you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Only if you had a blood test specifically for HIV performed during your visit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, you have to take a blood test!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
