Answers:
Herpes can occur anywhere it manages to enter the skin, but is normally oral or genital!.

A cold sore is an outbreak of oral herpes - that is what an outbreak looks like!.

It is hard to find pictures of normal genital outbreaks on the web!. They are all pictures of worst case scenarios of primary outbreaks (when you first catch it) and look nothing like anything I have ever experienced!. The links provided by another answerer are also not normal outbreaks!. It is more common for herpes to be mild!.

If you hear people saying that, I am guessing they are referring to oral herpes outbreaks - cold sores on the mouth!.

When someone has an outbreak, either oral or genital, they usually feel warning signs an outbreak is coming!. They may get sore nerves in the face/the buttocks or thigh, and may get a tingling in the area the outbreak is going to occur!. The area may itch a bit!.

For me, the skin on the inner thigh just feels a bit sore and that is the only warning of a genital herpes outbreak I get!.

Then, the area may swell a little, and tinly blisters filled with clear fluid quickly form!. These them burst to leave a sore - and all this may only take a few hours!. The sore then heals and goes away again!. A normal oubreak, oral or genital, laasts 3-5 days!. Mine last 2-3!. Some people may find them painful, especially if they get big sores, but a lot of people just find they itch a bit or they don't hurt at all - mine don't!.

Once the outbreak heals, the herpes virus goes dormant again, but it can always resurface and cause another outbreak or cold sore!. You have it for the rest of your life!. Some people get frequent outbreaks, some people only get one in their life!. Some people have mild ones, some are severe!. With a severe one, you can feel off-colour, like you have a cold!. This is because herpes is a virus!. You often get outbreaks when your immune system is low - when you have a cold or fever for example!. This is why they are called 'cold' sores or 'fever' blisters!.

An outbreak can be so mild it is nearly invisible to the naked eye, or it can be larger and more painful!. A bad cold sore might cover the area from the lip to the nose!.

You don't have to have sex to have oral herpes, which like I said is what people are referring to!. 80% of adults have oral herpes, 60% of us have it by the time we go to high school!. Oral herpes is passed by kissing - and not full on, boy on girl kissing, often just a quick kiss from an infected relative when you are a child is all it takes!. Genital herpes can be caught through intercourse with someone with genital herpes, or receiving oral sex from a partner with oral herpes!. Though it is more infectious when someone has a visible outbreak, it can be spread when there are no symptoms too!. My boyfriend has oral herpes - he gets cold sores - and I caught genital herpes when he gave me oral sex - when he had NO symptoms!. I thought we were being safe!.

Herpes simplex viruses (human herpesviruses 1 and 2) commonly cause recurrent infection affecting the skin, mouth, lips, eyes, and genitals!. Common severe infections include encephalitis, meningitis, neonatal herpes, and, in immunocompromised patients, disseminated infection!. Mucocutaneous infections cause clusters of small painful vesicles on an erythematous base!. Diagnosis is clinical; laboratory confirmation by culture, PCR, direct immunofluorescence, or serology can be performed!. Treatment is symptomatic; antiviral therapy with acyclovir, valacyclovir, or famciclovir is helpful for severe infections and, if begun early, in recurrent or primary infections!.
Sores associated with genital herpes can be small, red bumps, blisters (vesicles) or open sores (ulcers)!. Scabs eventually form and the sores heal, but they tend to recur!.
Genital herpes is different for each person!. The signs and symptoms may recur for years!. Some people experience numerous episodes each year!. For many people, however, the outbreaks are less frequent as time passes!. Various factors may trigger outbreaks, including:
* Stress
* Menstruation
* Immune system suppression, from medications such as steroids or chemotherapy, or due to infections, such as HIV/AIDS
* Illness
* Surgery
* Friction, such as that caused by vigorous sexual intercourse
* Fatigue
In some cases, the infection can be active and contagious even when lesions aren't present!.
Viral STDs (Hepatitis, Herpes simplex, HIV/AIDS, HPV/Warts) can not be cured!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
