That's actually a good age to start on the pump, but you will still need to have some control over it!. If you get a Minimed, you can now get a BG meter that automatically relays the BG number to the pump so you can easily dial in a correction, and the pump stores that number for download!. So as long as you download his pump (and meter if you want to), you will know what his BG's are!. The pump doesn't let you escape fingersticks!.!.!.you have to do it 6-8x a day, but at least you only have to put one big needle in every 3 days, and then you pull the needle out and it leaves the tubing under your skin!.

Kids are so good with gadgets, he will catch onto it easily!. The biggest problem they're finding is that parents will get their younger kids on a pump thinking that it just magically takes care of everything, and then they don't stay involved in their BG's, so they can run into problems!. A kid can't really manage their own diabetes until they're at least 14 or so, and even then you need to stay partially involved!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pumps are good!. They generally help control your blood sugar!.
Get with an endocronologist, and listen to what he says about it!. Also, ask him about how to control your son's blood sugars, because it's not that complicated and I'm sure he'd be happy to explain it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Speak with the doctor about it and see if he will agree to it!. I see no reason why they shouldn't want to do something that is less painful for him!. The lying about the sugar levels is not good and make sure that the doctor is aware!. But for crying out loud he is only 8 he is tired of all of that sticking!. May God Bless you and your baby!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

this is something that should be discussed with his Dr!.!.!.much will depend on his compliance ,knowledge, and acceptance of his medical condition!.!.!.!.you really can't just go in and say this is what you want and the Dr order it for you!.!.!.this is something your son will have to be evaluated for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
