Question: A question for people living with genital herpes or genital warts!?
I'm curious to know if you have told any one in your life about it!? I assume if you have a sexual partner they know (or they should at least), but I'm curious if you disclose this information with any one else!? Friends!? Family!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just my direct family, and one of my closest friends, my best friend doesnt even know I have genital herpes because I dont think she wouldn understand, I told my other friend because he is a little more intelligent than her so I knew he would be able to deal with the news and not judge me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I'm pretty open about my genital herpes!. Many of my close friends know!. No one at work knows, and my mom still doesn't know, but my best friends do, and so do my sisters!.
I guess I feel that one way of removing the stigma of this disease is to treat it like any other disease!. I also know that this makes my friends more willing to ask me about genital herpes, or share any embarrassing info that they need to get off their chests with me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have told one person that I have HSV1 on my genitals!. And that was my sister!. I needed to tell at least one person besides the person who gave it to me!. Also I have told alot of people on here, but they dont know who I am!. I trust my sister to not tell anyone but to tell someone other than her, never!. If I am not with the man who gave this to me, I will never be with anyone else because of it!. He told me from the start that he had it, so I dont blame him for me getting it!. But I will NEVER put anyone in my position!. Or will I ever ask anyone else to be with me because of it!. I could never do this to someone else!. I could never ask someone to make that choice!. And plus there is the fear of rejection because of it and then if they do reject you will they keep your secret or tell everyone!? HSV is not the big bad that everyone has made it out to be, but then again it is an STD!. And there is a stigma that goes with it that makes people out to be "unclean" "dirty" or a "slutt" you get the point!. But everyday normal people who are very carefull who they have sex with get it!. I am 40yrs old and have only had 5 sexual partners, and only 2 in the last 15 yrs!. And I got it!. I hope this answered your question some what!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think the only people that should know are the people who could get it from you, that would be potential partners
the only people in my life who know are my mom because she took me to the hospital, i told my new bf when we became intimate, and my doctor knows!.
thats it!. people will just judge you!. u are still the same person!. you are in control of the disease not the other way around!.
