Gardnerella vaginalis is the bacteria species that causes bacterial vaginosis (BV)!. It is **NOT** a STD!. In fact, G!. vaginalis is part of your normal vaginal flora!. It usually lives there quietly and happily with the rest of the yeasts and bacteria until sometimes upsets the balance!. That can mean a pH disruption, poor hygiene, other infections, or just something going wrong!. While BV is not a STD, it is often aggravated by sexual activity!.
Your doctor can cure BV with mentronidazole!. It's important to cure BV right away!. If you don't, it can lead to PID (which can cause permanent infertility)!. If you have BV, do NOT use a vaginal douche!. That can speed up the infeciton and cause PID to set in faster!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
