Question: Why are there no studies that might prove who might be at risk for an adverse reaction to a vaccine!?
There seems to be a history of autoimmune disease and epilepsy in families with autism!. Can anyone else varify this!?
Although an adverse reaction to a vaccine is considered "rare", it really bothers me that there is no one that will fund studies for people who may be at risk for an abnormal immune response!. Why would someone have an abnormal immune response to a vaccine, such as getting the disease the vaccine is designed to prevent!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The reason there are no studies about at risk groups for severe vaccine reactions is because there are so few reaction to start with!.

To start out with mild vaccines reactions are relatively rare, but occur frequently enough that "you might know someone who had a bad reaction!." However, these mild reactions are characterized really by just nausea and generally feeling bad for a week or so!. While this is obviously no fun, there is no life threatening aspect to mild reactions and it is really just an inconvenience!. Given the fact that vaccines are incredibly valuable in preventing diseases that could inconvenience you even more (with things such as!.!.!. death) you should never forgo a vaccine for the inconvenience of just feeling sick!.

That being said, there are much more severe reactions that can occur to vaccines which do in fact include anaphylactic shock!. However this is EXTREMELY rare!. According to a study ( which you can find here: http://www!.ncbi!.nlm!.nih!.gov/pubmed/14523!.!.!. )!. The risk of developing such a reaction is 1-0!.5 in a million for most major vaccines!. Currently the US population is estimated at around 300 million which means that if these stats are correct there are about 300 people who have experienced severe vaccine reactions!. Most epidemiological studies require a group of people much larger than 300!. It would be very unlikely that any risk factors could be determined with statistical certainty from only 300 (that is assuming the investigators could track down all 300 across the US)!.

As for Jane, your case is extremely surprising!. There are documented cases of developing autoimmune reactions such as allergy following immunization!. However, not to such a broad range of substances!. If indeed that was caused solely by the vaccine, then you are quite a unique individual!. Since it happened to your brother too it is likely there is a genetic component that predisposed you to it!. However, since you can not be certain that there was some variable you were unaware of at the time, you should seriously consider at least having any children you might have tested to see if they would be prone to the same sort of reaction!. Children are at risk for some quite terrible diseases without vaccination and while I respect your right to evaluate the situation through your own judgment, it seems quite risky to restrict your children from vaccination on the basis of an observation that very few have observed!.

Anyways on a concluding note: when regarding children and vaccination, you really should not base your judgment on what you read on the internet (ironic right!?) There are fanatics on either side who will try to insist that vaccines are the safest things in the world since they don't personally know anyone who got sick just as there will be people who think vaccination is the devil since their mother died the day after she got the small pox vaccine!. The truth is there are risks but in most cases the benefit outweighs them!. If you are concerned about potential complication due to personal consideration, consult an allergy specialist (a good one)!. They are not going to lie to you and say vaccines are perfect but they will know when the risks are pertinent (it's their job, Hippocratic oath!)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most vaccines are 'killed' so you can't possibly get the illness the vaccine is designed to prevent!. For instance, the polio vaccine for many years was a live vaccine!. It was a liquid that could be drunk, so no injections were necessary, however some people developed the illness because it was a live virus and had that potential!. Today, in the US, they only use the injectible, which is a 'killed' virus!.

I do believe that autism is multicausal!. I also think many cases are caused by an external cause, not genetics!. For instance, I lost my eyesight in one eye to a disease and my great-aunt lost her eyesight for the same reason!. While we both appear to have a genetic weakness that caused this damage, the actual cause of the disease is a fungus!. We just had the bad luck to live in the area where it predominates as children!.

However, because my family has an identified auto-immune disorder, I would delay vaccinations and spread them out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The benefits of a vaccination outway the risk of getting the disease!. Most vaccinations are "dead viruses" and you cannot get the disease from the vaccine!. The only one I know of that was live was the oral polio vaccine and they don't use it anymore because of the 1 in a 1,000,000 chance someone could contract the virus because it was live!. I have no info on the autoimmune disease and autism relationship, sorry!. I know there is being alot of studies done to see if infant immunizations are possible causing the rise in autism!. Hope I helped some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know the answer to your first question, but I know the reason for the enlarged heads!. It's caused by a super-rapid growth of neurons typical of brain injury in very small children!. The most common culprit is toxic chemicals released due to anxiety!. I suppose it's possible for vaccines to cause the toxins, but there is no evidence for that, whereas there is evidence for the anxiety-chemical-neuron growth connection!.

my brother and i got a "bad" immunization as kids and we're now allergic to almost everything!. it's not genetic, it was the shot!. i can't have raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and NUMEROUS processed foods will send me into anaphylactic shock!. i will NOT immunize my children because of this!. i have no clue what caused it and very few people believe it happens!.
we know it was the shot because we both got violently ill the day after and had allergic reactions since!. this was 20+ years ago!. we are 2 of 8 children!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It may not contain it anymore, as it was taken out in 2004, but other vaccines still do!!
