Question: I need an illness to kill off an old lady in my play!?
The woman is 82, she has been in a nursing home for years, and before her death, she is expected to die quite soon, but she dies sooner than expected!. She has great difficulty moving throughout the play, due to problems with her legs!.

Diabetes!. Long-standing diabetes causes nerve damage, which can lead to both difficulty walking and amputation if it progresses far enough!. Diabetes can also lead to things like heart attacks and strokes, which could easily "off" an 82 year-old woman!. Plus it's a very common illness, and thus quite believeable in a play!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I'd go for a stroke or pneumonia, depending on whether you need instant death or a short linger!.

Falls down and breaks her hip!. Goes to a nursing home to recuperate and either gets pneumonia or a blood clot--a pulmonary embolism--and dies!.
