Morbidity is a measure of sickness or disease within a geographic area while Mortality is a measure of deaths within a population or geographic area!.

Morbidity-(1) condition of being diseased!. (2) proportion of disease to health in a community!.
Mortality- (1) the quality of being mortal (causing or terminating in death)!. (2) the frequency of death in a certain population or caused by a particular disease!.

Mortality: the fact that a being is able to die!. We humans are all mortal, as opposed to immortality which means a being can't die (the immortal gods in mythology and religion)!.

Morbidity: a state of being morbid!. that doesn't help much, but morbid usually refers to something sick, like thinking about how much blood a person needs to lose or how much the heart has to slow down for a person to die, or how long it takes for a corpse to rot!. Things most people don't usually wonder about too much, often related to death (which I suppose is responsible for your confusion here)!.
