Question: URGENT Herpes Help Please!!?
This morning I woke up with two massive cold sore thingies on my lips!. I've suffered from cold sore outbreaks once or twice a year since I was about 8 years old!. I was just browsing the net for creams/treatments for this, when it was suggested that this could be herpes! Herpes! Omg! I thought that was a sexually transmitted disease! But thinking back, I did have oral sex with my husband 2days ago!. But then again, we have had oral sex tons of times that hant resulted in this outbreak!. I'm confused as to what is the difference between Herpes and a cold sore, and if I've suffered from these from before I was ever sexually active then it can't be herpes can it!? Now I'm just totally confused as to what herpes is!. Is this something IIm just suseptable and prone to, or did my husband give it to me!? HELP! xxWww@Answer-Health@Com

sorry to have to tell u this but cold sores are the exact same thing as oral herpes, its just a nicer name for them!.
it is considered to be an std or sti but it can be transmitted by other ways then just sex!. say if u shared utensils, drinks or ciggarettes with some one known to have cold sores, then it could have been transmitted that way!. also if anut or uncle soandso kissed u on the head or face when u were young and they had cold sores, u could have gotten them that way as well!.
as for the oral sex, he could be a carrier of herpes which means that he has little to no outbreaks!. however i ended up getting oral herpes on my mouth and gentials from oral sex with my boyfriend!. i figure he must have had cold sores at the time and transfered them to my mouth and genitals!. but if u have had them since before u met your husband then he most likely did NOT give them to u!.
u don't have to worry about having them too much as 80% of the population has them (including me), even people on tv have them!. its just the social stigma attached to them that gets most people down about having cold sores!. if u have herpes people automatically assume that u are gross, dirty or promiscuous when that is usually not the case!. most people get herpes as a kid or from their monogomus partner!.
BTW creams like Abreva and Lipactin work really well for oral herpes and can even prevent them from breaking out!. if they are really bad u may want to consider going on suppressive medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is oral herpes and genital herpes (aka type 1 and type 2)!. Only 10% of genital herpes presents on the mouth so you more than likely have oral herpes!. A lot of people have this!. Herpes is one of the the few viral diseases that can be controlled by medication!. Acyclovir is commonly prescribed!.
type 1 infections typically occur via casual contact during childhood and produce no signs or symptoms!. In fact by age 2, about 80% of children are infected and show no sypmptoms!. Cold sores are herpes!. If you have had it since childhood, then you can't have got it from oral sex!. Please don't engage in oral sex when you have an outbreak!. I did once, not realising, and gave my partner genital herpes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
