How often does one have to go for blood transfusion if he has thalassemia minor/!

Question: How often does one have to go for blood transfusion if he has thalassemia minor/major!?
Answers:
It's not written in stone, but generally every two to three weeks or so!. This is usually coupled with treatment to stop 'iron overload' from the transfusions!.

Amended: I was assuming that whoever you are talking about has already been told that they'll need transfusions!. Some people do have Thalassemia but don't need transfusions!.

There are a group of disorders known as Thalassemia and whether or not you need a transfusion is very much dependant on which type you have (there are way more than two types!) But if you do have the kind that needs to be treated with transusions, then generally it will be every two to three weeks, dependant on the patient and the doctor treating!.

Again speaking generally, people with Thalassemia Minor don't usually need transfusions and people with Thalassemia Major do!. But again, it isn't always that straight forward!.

There are some great resources on the internet, including http://www!.thalassemia!.org/index!.php , that can give you some more information about Thalassemia in general!.
