Answers:
I was in that exact situation-I had the RAI some years ago after being on meds for a couple of years or so!.(i had Graves)-I was really highly overactive and was quite unwell before I went on the meds!.The RAI worked well and my levels were just right for about 5 years and needed no meds, had regular blood tests to check!.(i understand that having RAI isnt an exact science so was lucky it worked )!.However a year or so ago I became quite underactive so am now on thyroxine, and will be on it for always I think!.One good thing tho'-being on Thyroxine entitles you to free prescriptions!-dont be scared its no big deal and can be sorted with medication-if you want to know anything else e mail me -or let me know how you get on-good luck
p!.s having RAI doesnt have any negative effects as far as i knowWww@Answer-Health@Com

Please STOP and rethink this treatment!.

Radioactive Iodine is NOT a cure for Grave's disease!. After the treatment, you will still have Grave's disease!. Plus you will have given yourself yet another disease - hypothyroidism - that you will have to deal with and get treatment for for he rest of your life!.

Since you will still have Grave's disease, yet it won't be be able attack your thyroid, the Grave's disease could attack your skin, or worse yet, your eyes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't be worried this treatment is pain free, safe and very successful!. It does however usually result in hypothyroidism!. This means that you will probably end up needing lifelong levothyroxine, thyroid replacement!. The good news is that this is much easier to control than carbimazole and has virtually no side effects!. Assuming you do find yourself in that position, remember all patients on levothyroxine are entittled to all their prescriptions free, so remember to apply for the certificate for this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, I had radioactive iodine for hyperthyroidism!.
Nothing to be scared of at all!.
You'll be oodles better!.
Just a (smile) warning!. For about a week afterwards I felt deficient in iodine and only wanted to eat bananas and spinach!.
Free prescriptions in UK!.
Let DVLC know if on thyroxine for life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
