With cystic fibrosis, a person has thick, sticky mucus from everything that secretes: sweat glands, pancreas, lungs, liver!. The pancreas secretes enzymes that aid in digestion, and the CF person has limited enzymes available!. So they must take replacement enzymes, up to 10 a meal!.
They are also asked to do a lot of therapies for their lungs: nebulizer treatments (sometimes four nebulized drugs) and airway clearance treatments, and these take a lot of time!.
They are asked to eat a high fat, high calorie diet!.

I had a good friend that passed away from CF, and he always had to limit physical and strenous activity!. He would get winded very quickly from long walks, running, and even climbing stairs!. He had to take numerous treatments from a nebulizer throughout the day and had frequent hospital stays when it got out of hand!. He coughed a lot due to all of the mucus in his lungs and throat, and he had a ton of medications that he had to take on a daily basis!.
