Question: I have bloating and slow digestion!. It can change the way my body looks and feels in hours!.!?
I have tried nexium, probiotics, and a limited food sensitivity diet!. Is there some help out there in the houston area!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well nexium cancels out the probiotic so if you took them at the same time it will not work at all!. Plus you have to use the probiotic or a digestive enzyme for a while to see a difference!.!.!. like weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Usually there's no underlying illness behind "slow digestion!." More often it's the end result, pun intended, of poor dietary habits!.

What you can do to fix this is forget Nexium, probiotics, and all the other yuppie fads and simply eat better and get some mild exercise nearly every day!.

Starting now, eat a minimum of 5 servings (9 is better) of fruit or vegetables every day, fresh if you can!. Limit red meat to once or twice a month!. Eat fish (not shellfish, fish-fish) at least once a week, better twice!. Eat only what protein your body needs!. Minimize fats consumed--learn to like your bread unbuttered, your potatoes un-Frenchfried, and so on!. When there's a whole-grain option, take it!. Drink enough that your urine is pretty much colorless!. Limit carbonated beverages of every type!. Consider Bean-o when you consume cruciferous vegetables!.

People who can eat like this consistently tend to have digestion that's just fine!.

What you have is constipation!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.the transit time of food is slowed down because you either lack fibre or psychologically you're supressing the urge to defecate ( the two most common causes)!. What happens is the bacteria in your gut have a lot more time to ferment the faeces and you get gas production which expands your colon, especially if you lie down at night and it gets the chance to settle in one place!.

The first thing to try is to add a little more fruit to you diet e!.g!. an apple a day!. Drink more water, have a high fibre cereal like weetabix for breakfast!. What are your feelings on when to go to the toilet !?!? Do you believe you've to go at a certain each day or do you go just when you feel the urge!. Feeling the urge is the correct way as there is essentially no great regulation of the defecation process except the intake of a large meal is usually followed by the urge to defecate maybe 20 mins later!. You can easily supress this urge and not go to the loo but this causes very bad constipation as the fecal matter dries out and hardens!. If ou're out in town and you need to go but there is no toilet available remember you needed to go and go to the loo as soon as you find one!. usually you'll pass one small motion and then maybe 5 minutes later you'll feel you need to go again!.!.!.!.!.!.make sure and go back in again and go to the loo!.!.!.this is NORMAL!.!.!.don't be embarrassed

Try the diet changes and the relaxation of your toilet routine and see does it work!. If it doesn't then go to your doc and let him do an abdominal examination and follow his adviceWww@Answer-Health@Com
