It can be hard to watch someone go through chemo, especially since before they were diagnosed (but still had cancer) they probably seemed mostly okay!. My grandfather went through surgery and chemo for lung cancer almost 4 years ago!. It made him really sick too!. He lost a lot of weight and of course all his hair!. He's much better now, at the same time they found the lung cancer they also found multiple myeloma which really has no treatment!. They gave him 2 years at the most!. Amazingly the lung cancer is still gone and the myeloma went into remission on its own!.

Most cancers are treated with Chemotherapy!. Even if they don't expect to put it into full remission it can help increase life expectancy and reduce some symptoms!. Just because he doesn't look better doesn't mean its not helping!. Chemo drugs are basically posions, they are killing off cells!. This is really harsh on the system!. Once your grandad is through with the chemo the side effects shouldn't affect him any longer!. The infections are probably because the chemo weakens the immune system!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Chemo will increase his chance of living longer, and no matter how bad it looks on the outside, the medical perspective of the inside could be much better!. Obviously being in the UK we receive free medical treatment (besides tax payments) so chemo is available to anyone who has cancer!. My mum knows a young boy of 11, he has severe bone cancer, and the doctors have told his parents he will die soon, but they have given him chemo to make his life last longer god bless him!.

My nan has it!. After her chemo she has been referred to 5 weeks of radiation!. This cancer treatment could be working to make his life longer, or just to eliminate the cancer!.

Radiation takes a long time, so chemo is probably quickest, easiest and most effective, hence why they are giving it to him!. After that they may try radiation if they think he has a chance of fighting cancer, so good luck!.

GOOD LUCK

I'm so sorry you have to endure this!. My grandma died of lung cancer and i was living with her!. It is hard but trust me on this!. Be with your grandad all the way!. Meaning be there to cheer him up, touch his hand, hold his hand, talk to him!. Bring him the papers, flowers!.!.!.music!. Do everything to cheer him!. This is what he needs!. It's the best thing to give him!. I know it's painful very very painful for you, but just be strong!. This is life and everyone has to go through it, but with family around, it's the best gift!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Chemo is a really tough ordeal to have to go through!. The positive thing is that they wouldn't have put a man of your grandad's probable age on it if they didn't think there was a chance!. If there was no hope they would have left him in peace, probably with painkillers, rather than put him through that regime, so that's the way to look at it!.

Good luck to you all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My uncle had lung cancer!. They told him that there was no way the could do treatment as it had spread already!. So im sure that there must be some percentage of chance of him recovering as they wouldnt have put him on the treatment!. I suppose he will look worse before he gets better!. I will be hoping that he does for you!. Just be strong!. =)Www@Answer-Health@Com
