Answers:
Staphylococcus epidermidis is found on the skin of everyone!. It is not as virulent (able to cause infections) as S!. aureus!. An infection from S!. epidermidis may occur from a break in the skin (cut, needle stick) or urinary catheter!. People with lowered immunity would be vulnerable!.

In general a healthy person would not be subject to getting an infection from someone else!. It would still be prudent to wash hands frequently, and to wear gloves if one had to change a dressing or come in contact with the infection site!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

S!. epidermidis can be contagious!. It lives (usually harmlessly) on your skin, a bit like MRSA (which is also a Staphylococcus)!.

To cause infection, it needs to find a route into the body, This can be through a cut in the skin to cause a blood infection (sepsis), or perhaps via the mouth and into the lungs where it can cause a respiratory infection!.

And yes, it can be transmitted from person to person!. Again, even if you 'get it', chances are it will live harmlessly on your skin and you'll have no idea its there!Www@Answer-Health@Com
